About Emma
As a community and Homebirth midwife I have supported many women and families throughout the childbirth continuum, and have a deep respect for the strength, resilience and beauty of women and the birthing process.
It was the births of my two children over twenty years ago, that started my fascination and calling to birthwork. It may be hard to believe, but pregnancy without the plethora of internet experts to hand was a much kinder place to be! I trusted my instincts and my body implicitly. I felt empowered and powerful and birthed without pain relief, quick and easy births, the most amazing experiences of my life. I went on to breastfeed my babies for over a year, one was an easy journey, the other, not so much!
It was while seeking help for my son with the after effects of a rapid birth, difficult latching and a generally unsettled baby, that I discovered Cranio sacral therapy, which helped bring a sense of ease for myself and my son at what was a very difficult time. When in my role as a midwife, I would always recommend Cranio, knowing how beneficial it was, especially for babies and mums that had been through a traumatic birth.
Training as a Cranio sacral therapist was the most transformative experience for me, second only perhaps, to the birth of my children! I feel it was what I had been searching for, both in my work life and on a personal level. Cranio sacral therapy is amazingly beneficial for everyone and I treat all ages and conditions, although I feel a deep affinity with pregnant women, babies and children due to my experience in this field.
My passion is to empower women to recognise their strength, to embrace and enjoy the journey to motherhood and to support and nurture them along the way.
Recognising and honouring the transition from in utero life to newborn is also, I feel, a vital step in supporting our babies as they this enter this world and supporting the wider family field.
I love this work!
